Jesus is the ONLY way........... posted by: preceptlady (reply) post date: 07.26.05 (4:07 pm) You are so very correct in EVERYTHING you have said. Having a real relationship with Jesus Christ is what living is all about. Keep up the good work of spreading the gospel. posted by: guru21 (reply) post date: 07.27.05 (9:24 pm) Does it really matter how one approaches God or how God approaches one? To say, "My way is the only way," is to alienate those who have just as much faith and trust and love in God. Such alienation only brings hatred and violence. I have a personal relationship with God. I do not feel I need an intermediary to focus my love and devotion to the One God. I feel I do not need a Jesus or Mohammed or Buddha or Krsna to reach God. I have faith that God is with me and in me at all times. What you have written is hardly putting the Christian ethic of 'love thy neighbour.' You do not inspire in others to love Jesus because by your account anyone who questions even by way of seeking knowledge, is damned. There are Many Paths to the One God, and many live Godly lives without reference to Jesus. They are sure of their Path. So if you are sure of your Path, and they are sure of theirs, why stir up hatred between you by bickering about which one is the right one? posted by: TrinaBinaBear (reply) post date: 07.28.05 (8:05 am) Reply to: guru21 I am simply going by what the Bible says. All of the below scriptures are from the New Living Translation. Feel free to go to Biblegatway.com and change the version if it is easier for you. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." John 14:6 "Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me." John 1:9-14 "The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was going to come into the world. 10But although the world was made through him, the world didn't recognize him when he came. 11Even in his own land and among his own people, he was not accepted. 12But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. 13They are reborn! This is not a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan--this rebirth comes from God. 14So the Word [Jesus] became human and lived here on earth among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness.[a] And we have seen his glory, the glory of the only Son of the Father. Isaiah 53 "1 Who has believed our message? To whom will the LORD reveal his saving power? 2My servant grew up in the LORD's presence like a tender green shoot, sprouting from a root in dry and sterile ground. There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance, nothing to attract us to him. 3He was despised and rejected--a man of sorrows, acquainted with bitterest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way when he went by. He was despised, and we did not care. 4Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows[a] that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God for his own sins! 5But he was wounded and crushed for our sins. He was beaten that we might have peace. He was whipped, and we were healed! 6All of us have strayed away like sheep. We have left God's paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on him the guilt and sins of us all. 7He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. 8From prison and trial they led him away to his death. But who among the people realized that he was dying for their sins--that he was suffering their punishment? 9He had done no wrong, and he never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man's grave. 10But it was the LORD's good plan to crush him and fill him with grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have a multitude of children, many heirs. He will enjoy a long life, and the LORD's plan will prosper in his hands. 11When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish, he will be satisfied. And because of what he has experienced, my righteous servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for he will bear all their sins. 12I will give him the honors of one who is mighty and great, because he exposed himself to death. He was counted among those who were sinners. He bore the sins of many and interceded for sinners." Psalm 118:22-23 22.The stone rejected by the builders has now become the cornerstone. 23 This is the LORD's doing, and it is marvelous to see. Matthew 11:27 "All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him." ***Jesus is the Word. The Word is God. In Genesis 1:1 it says, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Jesus created the heavens and the earth. Man then sinned, and was cut of from straight communion with God, because God cannot be in the presence of sin. [Habakkuk 1:13 (King James Version) "Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?" So, we, as humans and sinners, needed a Mediator. So, God sent His Son, Jesus, down from Heaven in human form to take on the sins of the world. Our only job in this life, is to accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord, and Savior, and live His word, through His Spirit. Like I said in my post, you have to read the Bible for yourself. I don't know where you got the information that Mohammed, Buddha, or Krsna are even REMOTELY on the same level as Jesus. They were human. He is God. They are dead. He is living. You have to go through Jesus to get to God. Jesus is the ONLY Way to Him, as so clearly written in the scriptures. There are NOT many paths to One God. There is ONLY ONE Way. posted by: vinebranch (reply) post date: 07.30.05 (9:03 am) Well done TBB - we need more followers of Jesus to proclaim that He is indeed the ONLY way. I didn't say it - you didn't say it - He did and he is .The Truth. |
